Плюрализм в целом хорошо удовлетворяет условиям кумулятивного требования. Во-первых, за каждой религиозной системой убеждений признается ценность как особого пути к Абсолюту или Истине; плюралисты обычно не признают привилегированной эпистемической позиции одной из религий. Во-вторых, плюрализм настаивает на толерантном отношении к религиям, видя в них именно культурно обусловленное средство выражения религиозного отношения. Проблема с плюралистическим подходом возникает в том плане, что именно выбирается в качестве того объекта, на которое проецируется религиозное отношение. Это означает, что мы при якобы неангажирован- ном взгляде на карту религий должны прийти к той мысли, что в центре находится не конкретная религиозная традиция (христианство, например), а какая- то объединяющая если не все, то хотя бы подавляющее большинство религий идея и что все религии строятся вокруг этой идеи Бога (Реального и спасения - в случае Хика, блага - в случае агатоцентризма Януша Саламона [Salamon, 2017]).
