The article is devoted to the features of representing one of most common motifs of American literature -- the motif innocence in the work of the mid-20th century outstanding American playwright T. Williams. In this regard, an analysis of the author's poetics is carried out, which largely allows us to trace the specifics of the development of the examined artistic category at all levels of the drama.
