Для рецептивных видов деятельности большое значение имеет механизм прогнозирования, умение выдвигать гипотезу и проверять её контекстом. Для развития этого механизма можно предложить упражнение с заполнением пропусков, включающее множественный выбор.

В блок подстановочных упражнений мы включили разработанные нами функционально-смысловые таблицы (Приложение Б) для обучения активной лексике. При работе с ФСТ в качестве основных используются подстановочные упражнения, однако здесь могут быть представлены также задания на имитацию и трансформацию.

ФСТ являются вспомогательным средством для условно-речевых упражнений и одновременно вводят некоторые новые для учащихся слова и речевые обороты. Была поставлена задача не только выработать навык употребления новых слов и выражений, связанных с темой будущей профессии, но также повторить и закрепить речевые образцы (speech patterns), данные в начале параграфа перед текстом "Thinking of the future profession": need badly (представлено в ФСТ-1), such a thing as + noun (gerund) (ФСТ-2 (I)), so … that (ФСТ-2 (II)).

В соответствии с методическими рекомендациями для старшего этапа, описанными в разделе 2.3, при составлении ФСТ-1 в качестве "функционального замещения" был использован не перевод на родной язык, а синонимы - в тех случаях, где, на наш взгляд, затруднена семантизация при помощи контекста и языковой догадки.

В ФСТ-2(I) не употребляются средства "функционального замещения" и расширен диапазон лексики за счет уже известных учащимся лексических единиц.

Особенностью ФСТ-2 (II) является то, что одновременно с тренировкой и повторением материала предыдущих ФСТ предлагается задание на повторение и закрепление речевых образцов, данных в предыдущих темах: to be of (great) importance + for (c. 218 учебника), be sure + to + inf (c. 211), would rather + inf (c. 207), be best + to + inf (c. 207).

Необходимость повторения этих речевых моделей методически целесообразна, так как активизация уже сформированных лексических навыков должна предшествовать введению новых лексических единиц. Представленные речевые модели изучались на нескольких предыдущих занятиях и являются частью того же Unit IV, к которому относится и текст "Thinking of the future profession" с заданиями к нему.

Особенностью ФСТ-2 (II) является то, что она предоставляет больше возможностей для самостоятельного высказывания, отказа от вербальных опор.

В процессе подготовки и реализации самостоятельного высказывания очень полезными могут оказаться также упражнения 12с, 12d, 12e, 12f, 12g на с. 227-229. Это упражнения разработаны с учетом принципа функциональности и предусматривают сначала высказывание на основе вербальных опор, а затем самостоятельное оформление учащимися своих мыслей.

На этапе тренировки при работе с ФСТ наряду с предлагаемыми вопросами (What do you think about your future profession? What profession do you want to acquire? Why?) в качестве подстановочных и трансформационных условно-речевых упражнений можно использовать вопросы, на которые возможен отрицательный ответ:

- Are you interested in such a thing as acquiring a profession of a sales manager (physicist, musician, sports instructor, veterinarian)? (по ФСТ-2 (I)).

- As for me, I’m not interested in a profession of a sales manager. Lately I’ve got especially interested in such a thing as practical experience in medicine.

- Are you eager to acquire a profession of an army officer (librarian, fireman …) ? (по ФСТ-2(II))

Frankly speaking, this profession is so dangerous that I wouldn’t like to make myself a career as an army officer. I would rather learn a trade as a surgeon . This job is so challenging and unusual that I’m prepared to forget about leisure.

Для ответа на эти вопросы можно также дать перечень прилагательных, характеризующих непривлекательную работу: backbreaking, boring, dangerous, exhausting, messy, monotonous, not respected, tiring etc.

Примерами трансформационных упражнений могут быть следующие:

. Употребить данное в предложении слово в другом значении, и в соответствии с новым значением слова изменить содержание предложения.

В первом предложении употребить слово artist в значении 'художник', во втором conductor в значении 'кондуктор', в третьем engineers в значении 'механики', в четвертом - officers в значении 'чиновники, должностные лица' и соответственно изменить часть предложения, выделенную курсивом.

We asked local artists to come and show the performance to the studentsconductor William Llewellyn has had a few sleepless nights but now he is proud of his singers.engineers were unable to explain why the bridge had ruined.

Officers in nearly every country of the world are separated from soldiers in many aspects of military life.

В следующем упражнении тренируются умения перифраза, оно способствует усвоению новых слов и конструкций. После прочтения текста "APPROACHES TO LEADERSHIP: THE LEADER IN YOU" (Приложение В) можно выбрать несколько предложений из текста, перевести их на русский язык. Затем предложить учащимся перевести снова на английский и сравнить с оригиналом. На следующем занятии можно повторить это задание (на том же материале). Так учащиеся не только научатся перифразировать, но и усвоят новые слова и фразы.

Следует подчеркнуть, что хотя демократический стиль лидерства традиционно считается наиболее приемлемым, все три стиля лидерства могут быть эффективны в определенных условиях. Соответственно, когда требуется срочное решение, для группы наиболее приемлем автократический стиль.

(It should be emphasized that although democratic leadership is traditionally preferred, all three leadership styles can be effective under the appropriate conditions. Thus, when an urgent decision is required, the autocratic style may be in the group's best interest.)

Задания на использование лексики в различных видах речевой деятельности должны характеризоваться большим разнообразием. Они должны занимать большую часть времени на уроке, поскольку требуют от учащихся творческого подхода, неординарности мышления, способности логически рассуждать и обосновывать свое мнение. При изучении темы "My future profession" можно использовать прием ранжирования. Учащимся предлагается распределить в порядке значимости профессии (названия профессий - см. Приложение A). Возможны следующие варианты проведения игры:

) учащийся работает самостоятельно, записывает свое решение проблемы, затем эти решения обсуждаются в парах или группах;

) учащиеся в небольших группах пытаются найти общее решение, которое должны будут обосновать в итоговой общей дискуссии;

) все учащиеся, чьи варианты ответов совпали, собираются в группы, чтобы дать как можно больше аргументов в защиту своего варианта.

Еще один вариант применения этого приема - ранжирование качеств, необходимых для определенной профессии. Каждый учащийся должен пронумеровать их по степени важности, исходя из той профессии, которую он бы хотел получить. Для этой работы лучше всего подходит вариант проведения игры, когда учащийся работает самостоятельно, а затем его решение обсуждается в парах или группах. Перечень личностных качеств для ранжирования: tactful, attractive, lively, industrious, reasonable, disciplined, imaginative, creative, determined, self-confident, honest, witty, balanced, serious, polite, sociable, ambitious.
